Two drivers are consigned to all our vehicles which commence from our Perth base to the East coast and return. We offer good working conditions, flexible work schedules and will negotiate a generous remuneration package based on the applicant’s experience. For further information contact wayne@cht.net.au
Since 2005, Wayne Kiely has generously transported our horses to the Eastern States to compete at first, in the RDAA National Dressage Championships and now, in 2009, in the EA National Para Equestrian Championships. The successes that the riders have enjoyed since 2005 have been in no small way due to the excellent condition in which the horses arrive at the competition. In addition, we would find it difficult to fund the cost of transporting the horses to the Eastern States and probably would not be able to field a team, without Combined Horse Transport. The team at Combined- John Kane, Matt and Bridget has been tremendously helpful in organizing some complicated transport within NSW and Victoria. At all times we were kept notified of where our horses were and of their estimated time of arrival. They even contacted the team to find out how they were faring in the competition. We are extremely fortunate to have Combined Horse Transport in WA – no other riders at the Championships enjoyed the support that the WA riders do.
Thank you Wayne Kiely and Combined Horse Transport and thank you John, Bridget and Matt.
Bridget Kiely now Bridget Kelly since her recent marriage to Matt Kelly has joined her husband Matt and John Kane at the CHT home base "Twinbrooks" after some years practicing her trade as a drafty in an architects office. Bridget is the fourth generation of a very horse orientated family and is no stranger to the equine industry having participated in the disciplines of dressage, eventing and track riding racehorses she has become a very accomplished horsewoman and now specialises in the showjumping arena where she has established a reputation as a very competent and competitive rider. After graduating as a draftsperson Bridget’s passion for showjumping drew her to spend time training in Germany and Ireland where she gained invaluable knowledge she is now able to share as part of the CHT team. Bridget’s responsibilities at CHT include reception, administration and taking care of the Twinbrooks livery and transit horses. Bridget and Matt recently moved into the homestead at Twinbrooks allowing them to provide a hands on service pretty much 24/7 to the demands of CHT ensuring the welfare of the horses is paramount and the high standard of customer relations CHT has strived for over the years is retained. Matt joined the CHT team some years ago now and began at the bottom working around the property and with vehicle maintenance and has a very good insight into the long haul travel of horses after almost 2 years driving one of the CHT "Mega Ark’s" on the East / West run. Matt is a boiler maker by trade and has a wealth of knowledge which is invaluable in one of his current rolls of maintaining the CHT fleet of Mega Arks. For the past 18 months he has also managed all of the CHT airfreight export operations as well as sharing the general management and administration responsibilities with John Kane ensuring everything continues to run like clockwork. In his spare time Matt also takes care of Twinbrooks maintaining it in its pristine condition for which it has earned a reputation over the years. Matt has also recently become a keen Polo player after taking regular tuition at the Kiely’s Polo Academy "Polo Kidogo" he now participates in tournaments throughout WA during the summer months. John Kane has a long history with CHT and although not officially he seems like part of the family also. Initially John began with CHT in 1992 as a driver and then spent 10 years with Notable Horse Transport in administration and management before taking up the position originally as operations manager and now running every aspect of the business back at CHT. After more than 400 trips across Australia transporting horses you may appreciate Johns knowledge of the industry and particularly long haul transport is virtually unmatched by anyone and goes beyond the transport industry having commenced as an apprentice jockey with Eric Parnham in the late 70’s and riding more than 30 winners including a Northam Cup on Bridge Of Friendship before a forced retirement due to knee injuries and increasing weight. John continued his passion in the racing industry as private trainer for prominent owner Stan Quinlivan culminating in a Hannans win with Frequency after he had gained invaluable experience working with trainers such as Rob McGuiness, Angus Armanasco and Brian Liddelow and horses like Mossfire, Swift Ho, Art Roy, Haulpaks Image, Deck The Halls and True Version. John can still be seen most mornings at the Ascot track where he has a couple of horses in work with Brian Liddelow Those of you that know John or have had dealings with him at CHT will most certainly appreciate his passion and complete dedication to the operations of CHT along with his attention to every detail to ensure all of the CHT customers are kept well informed and reassuring them their investments are in the best possible hands after his careful planning of the logistics to guarantee their horses arrive at their destinations in prime condition after enjoying total physical and mental comfort at every stage of their move. You may well ask where is the old fellow Wayne… after almost 30 years at the helm of CHT he as taken a well earned break or at least a change in lifestyle where he has been based in Germany for the past 2 years … a holiday you may think … NOT SO !! It was back in the early 70’s Wayne first spent time in Europe working with sport horses mostly in Ireland and Italy and it was during this time he had his first experience with the airfreight of horses whilst working for the Irish horse dealer and horse transport operator, Harold Lusk shipping showjumping horses from Ireland to Tehran for the then Shah of Tehran, Gholam Reza Afkham as well as extensive experience with road freight on the European showjumping circuit throughout Central Europe. It was these experiences that were the most influential in him foundering Serpentine Float Services a short time later which after a short period changed its trading name to Combined Horse Transport where he has remained at the helm until 18 months ago. Some 35 years later he has found himself back in a similar situation furthering his equine education this time in Germany, the largest and most intense Sport Horse breeding and competition nation in the world working with the crème de crème of leaders in their field gathering information to bring back to Australia on his return that will enhance the progressive, exciting and innovative projects CHT has on its short term agenda to further improve the infrastructure, animal welfare and customer service which has historically been testimony to the their dedication, commitment and high profile within the industry. Exciting times ahead for all !!! |
