State City Shuttle To Kentucky
Western Australia's Alwyn Park Stud-based 6YO stallion State City (Carson City-Wajna, by Nureyev) will shuttle to Buck Pond Farm in Kentucky for the 2006 US season, reported thoroughbredtimes.com. Doug Arnold's Buck Pond "has purchased a 50% interest in the 2003 Gr1 Dubai Golden Shaheen winner" who is standing his 1st season at Alwyn Park Stud at Serpentine this year. Darley Stud Management bred State City, who raced in the name of Godolphin Racing & recorded 6 wins in 17 starts & earned US$1,375,993; his highlights also included victory in Dubai's 2003 Jebel Ali Sprint plus 3rd to eventual sprint champion Aldebaran in that year's US Gr2 Tom Fool Handicap at Belmont Park. His stakes-winning dam Wajna is a half-sister to both Gr1 winner & sire Navarone, & Gr2 winner & sire Moon Spirit. (Aug 30)
